We would like to invite everyone to take advantage of the latest technology in sheep breeding. Artificial insemination(AI) is fast becoming the most efficient way to improve your genetic base. We have spent several years designing and improving our facility to accommodate large numbers. Poe Hamps has used AI since 2005 and conception rates have steadily improved. You will see better conception with a fresh semen AI program vs. a frozen semen program.

In an effort to make it more successful and more attainable to smaller flocks we will offer several rams to a fresh AI program this year. Please study the rams below and determine which ram best meets your needs and then schedule your ewes accordingly. We can also AI breed using frozen semen of your choice. Space is limited to 125 ewes per day and a non-refundable deposit of $40/head is required by May 1st to reserve your facility space. There will be additional surgery/cidr/pg600 costs. These can be purchased through us or on your own. An estimated total cost would be $80/head, excluding semen cost.

Your ewes will remain in single group throughout entire process, NO co-mingling with other ewes. AI breeding is a one day in/out procedure. Your ewes will be unloaded, penned separately and moved through breeding unit to recovery pen, before being loaded back on your trailer, for the ride home.

There is no better, more affordable insurance, than having your new ram collected. The collected semen can be frozen and used for years, in case of death or sterility. We offer several collection programs throughout the year. This includes "in-season" collection, when best results are achieved. Please call or e-mail for current schedule of collection days.

Southdown
NNRR

NEW for 2011 we will incorporate some different breeds and decided to start with Southdowns! The Oldenburg genetics are known for their top wethers sires and 9093 is one of the best - a line-bred NNRR ram. All questions regarding the specifics on this ram should be directed to Jeff Oldenburg at 405-649-2049.

There will be a minimum of 30 ewes scheduled for this ram before he is available. For example--10 breeders with 3 ewes each or 3 breeders with 10 ewes each.

The cost for fresh AI breeding to Oldenburg 9093 is $100/ewe.
A single day will be scheduled after the first few breeders register

Registered Hampshire
NNRR

If you want to add some wool and thickness AL is a great choice. He is predominately a female sire. Al daughters are very versatile, moderate framed and easy keeping.

Fresh AI breeding to Big AL is $50/ewe - a 25 dollar savings vs. frozen straw.
He is available all season.

NNRR

A full brother to Goldmine (pictured), Juicy was used successfully by Willoughby Show Stock, Glasscock and Langemeier. He is a very complete, correct made ram. The Suffolk influence will allow for a cleaner appearance without sacrificing muscle.

A fresh AI breeding to Juicy will be $100/ewe.
He is available all season.

NNRR

This Glasscock bred ram will give you the added power and bone in a larger package. He is a 7/8 brother to the popular Trigger ram, bred by Glasscock and owned by Brian Johnson. The PBR lambs are some of the 1st picked here at the farm in 2010.

A fresh AI breeding to PBR will be $200/ewe.
He is available all season.

Again, space is limited and to reserve your spot a $40/head deposit is required by May 1st. The ram breeding fee is for semen only and additional surgery/drug costs apply. The above rams are offered as a fresh semen AI, frozen semen may also be used.
